The turning torso in Malmö (Sweden)

The Turning Torso, a landmark in Malmö.

Recently I visited Malmö, where the Turning Torso rises up in the sky. The huge building is an architectural eyecatcher.

The Turning Torso is a residential skyscraper. With his 190 meters height it is the highest building in the Nordics.

krakow people

In the streets of Krakow…

Black and white series of photos taken during my stay in Krakow. A beautiful city, nice people. A couple of photos were taken in Kazimierz Jewish quarter and others were taken in the area around the main square. Krakow has everything for a good city trip.

Castle of Beauvoorde in West of Flanders - Kasteel van Beauvoorde.

Somewhere in Belgium, there is a beautiful castle…

Located in Beauvoorde, this is one of the most beautiful castles. It was built in 1408 and after it was buried down it was rebuild in 1617. In 1875 a new owner, Arthur Merghelynck, undertook an extensive restoration. The interior fittings and furnishings inside it today date from Merghalynck’s time. The castle was promoted to historic monument status in 1987. It’s still possible to visit this castle, also the park around the castle is worth visiting. There is even a special program for children to visit this castle with activities 🙂 so when you are around, must visit.

Spring in black and white

Spring…in black and white.

Spring is here, but this time not in all colors. Also without colors, you can create beautifull shot’s of flowers, sun rays and leaves. Enjoy the nature in black and white.

Père Lachaise Cemetery

Trip to Paris, Père Lachaise Cemetery.

Père Lachaise Cemetery is the largest cemetery in Paris (44 hectares ).  It’s located on the Boulevard de Ménilmontant.

Père Lachaise is still an operating cemetery and accepting new burials. However, the rules to be buried in a Paris cemetery are rather strict: people may be buried in one of these cemeteries if they die in the French capital city or if they lived there.

Among them a long list of artists, musicians and other famous people from all over the world.

If you plan to visit this Cemetery, be sure to reserve a couple of hours. It’s huge !

abandoned house, view from the spooky windows.

This house was abandoned for some years. A little bit spooky, you could say it’s a scene from a horror movie.

I posted some photo’s last year from this house, but last week went back to take some new shots. So this post is updated with new photo’s.

Cold days in Belgium.

Winter, the cold days have arrived in our country.  When summertime brings so many people, nowadays there is almost nobody to see. These photo’s are from today, one of those dark cold days.

Abandoned hospital located in Belgium. Urban shoot of a lost place.

This hospital was build in 1965 and abandoned in 2009. Since then hit the decay.

I visited this place last week with a couple of friends. I think this building will soon be destroyed completely.

When a tomato hits the water…

What happens when a tomato hits the water ? After a dozen of shots, I had the result I wished. I edited this photo 3 times, and like you can see, it are 3 totally different photo’s. The first one is a bit old fashion style, the second is in black and white with the tomato in red and the last one is almost like it was shot. Enjoy 🙂

Streetlights and playing with the exposure time.

Last week went walking in Ypres and took these photo’s. You can see some street views with long exposure time and

transformed some photo’s to black and white.  And of course use a tripod 🙂

Transfo station in Belgium, from 1911 till 2001.

This abandoned transfo station is located in Zwevegem (Belgium). It was built in 1911 and used for over 90 years. Currently it is property of the city and a place for exhibitions and entertainment. The building and transfo’s are classified and being restored. The site is public and can be visited on specified hours or happenings.

I have some more photo’s of this place, I will post them in the next week.
